It is time to look for a job. Applying for a job requires a resume. It is a single-page document that includes your education, skills, credentials etc… In today’s article, we will dive deep in the resume world. Follow these guidelines to get your first job offer. Let’s get started.

Tips for Writing a Resume for Fresh Graduates:

tips for writing a resume

A resume is what initially falls in the hands of your potential employer. If this document were nicely written, you would move to the next level of your first application, which is a job interview.

1. Make a Trial:

Of course, you are not going to graft a resume and send it right away. Take your time and try it in a sampe draft. A resume requires exact information and details. There is no need to hurry up. First, try to make a one-page trial resume. You need to take your time while doing this small experience. Explore the most trendy resume templates from here;

2. Introduce Yourself:

A self-intro in a resume differs from a general introduction. In this case, you need to reach the top of your page and write your Name, address, contact information (phone number+ email address). You can also add a Linkedin profile ( if you have any online professional profile, don’t hesitate to put it). Congrats! You have successfully introduced yourself in a resume. Now, let’s move to the second task.

3. Career Objective Statement:

We know you are a very determined job seeker. You need to make a summary of this application by writing a few sentences to express your professional goal. A career objective statement should not exceed three lines to describe your qualifications, professional goals, and traits. Here is an example:

A Fresh graduate with a degree in MBA, seeking an entry-level business management position at this company, a motivated, serious, and multi-tasked candidate, with six months of internship.

4.Education:

A degree is part of the fundamental requirements in a job description. As a new graduate, you have to talk about your academic journey. Since education is your sole investment here, you need to reorder the events of your qualifications that make your potential employer interest in your educational achievements.  Start listing your recent academic qualification by mentioning the highest educational attainment of your college significant to your high-school diploma. Example:

  • MBA, obtained at (mention your college) in (the date), with (honors)
  • Bachelor degree in finance, obtained at (your college name) in (the date) with (honors)

5. Internship/ Apprenticeship/ Work Experience (if available)

This section should include any professional event you experienced in your life. If you have no experience, you can talk about your internship. Remember, an internship can be equivalent to a job experience as it describes the requirement of employment. The same value can be obtained through apprenticeship, even though it is concerned with manual and manufactured work. You can also include part-time job, seasonal job experience, or volunteering experience. They are all worth this section. If you have any experience, read this:

6.Skills & Knowledge:

Many jobs are skill-based professions. Sometimes your skills can step before your degree. They can be what employers are looking for. Skills should be similar to what is required in a job description. Therefore, when you list your skills take a look at what is demanded in a job description. But, don’t put all of them, or else it will be counted very odd and non-professional. If you are a business graduate, choose your career from here;

 7. Awards and Achievements ( if available)

As a new graduate, you might have participated in sport clubs or any additional activity that shaped your personality. If you have any achievement or award, even if it is away from your professional field, put it in your resume. It is good to talk about your triumphs!

8. Reference List:

Why not another bonus paper? A reference list includes the professionals you have met during your internship or any professional experience. Contact these people and ask their permission to put their contact information in your reference list. For more guidelines, read this:
